I'm working full time now.....

Hi, I am now working full time, so I have an excuse for not posting frequently!!! However I do have a new painting to share today. The name of it is "The Enchanted Forest". It is 36" X36", done in acrylics on canvas with a textured canvas that adds some unique information here and there. I have recently been enchanted myself with the colors teal and turquoise. They represent to me a renewed hope and and optimism that may be more hopeful wishing that reality based. Living in this part of the country with all the deer around also has given me a daily/nightly view of the delicate beauty of deer and fawns, so they fill out the living forest in subtle ways, perfectly representing the "fauna" in the world of flora and fauna. This painting is one of my favorites, and was much admired at a recent art show at the Hill Country Arts Foundation. The price is $875, not including actual shipping costs.

new Art!!

Here is the most recent painting I have done, I think that subconsciously I painted this image because I wanted to be in a cool forest rather in the searing heat of Texas right now! this image is Oil on canvas, and it is 30 x 30 in size, for sale at a very reasonable price of $700. call me at 830-370-5873 and it can be yours!! I will be displaying it (and other beautiful work) at an Art Show at the Hill Country Art Foundation this September/October. It will be for sale there also.

Runes on Red, Fate
This painting is big, 36x36. and it was hard to photograph, my camera had a real hard time with so much red. The runes on the painting tell the future.

We frequently wish that we knew the future, "If only we knew the future", but what would we do with that knowledge, there would be no more surprises, either good or bad, we might become overwhelmed with all the troubles, losses, death of loved ones, but we would not be able to change a thing, not even end our own life, if it was not in our future! Could we fall in love if we knew all the trials, disappointments and sadness that would be involved. We couldn't gamble, because we would know the outcome. Sports would be a bore, because we would know how it went. Would our lives be nothing more than a dreary trek through the assigned time? Doing things we knew we would do, even when we knew it wouldn't work. Surprises and mystery add so much to our lives that I think we could not be happy without them. Hopes hinge on the belief that things will get better. Dreams are unfettered and free of mistakes. Hopes and Dreams lift us up, make us smile, and laugh, give us such joy. We don't want to know the future.

La Selva (the Jungle).......Los Arboles (the Trees)

Here is a collage of the most recent painting(s) I have finished, The name is La Selva, the Jungle.......Los Arboles, the Trees. It is a group of 9 paintings that are intended to be hung together, the two large ones are 16x20 and the small ones are 14x11. I have done considerable thinking about these images,

La Selva, the Jungle.......Los Arboles, the Trees

Trees.....

Long Life....
Peace....
Tranquility...
Shelter....
Comforting....
Community....

Fire.....

Heat.....
Angst....
Burning......
Annihilation...
Transformation....
Isolation...
Violence.....

In this series I am exploring the concept of Yin and Yang. Opposites that are part of one thing, Night and Day, In and Out, Cool and Hot, Off and On, Life and Death. Opposites that are intimately intertwined and when separated they lose more than half of their meaning. The tension or gravity of one clings to the other, like a lover, separate but so very close. The balance of forces, perhaps tipped, change is inevitable and every beginning has an end.

Setting up the Gallery

I am setting up my new Gallery, the name is registered....the Painted Prairie Art Gallery, and yesterday I got my sales tax license here in Colorado, so things are moving along, My daughter, Cristal helped me paint 4 rooms, now that is done, there is just a bit more work to be done before I can get everything out, but it's moving along. I have paintings hung, but the gift shop stuff still has some doing before it's ready. Today I got my supplies to start making handmade soap, that is a new and fun thing, I won't start that till I get back from Kerrville. Tomorrow I head to Kerrville to get a load of art and stuff that had to wait, I expect the car will be full to the top on the return trip! I can't wait to see my friends in Kerrville again, it will be a while before I make that drive again!!

"Red Dog Meditating" just sold

Look at my older posts to find the picture of "Red Dog Meditating"

Hey, the painting Red Dog Meditating just left the Guadalupe Art Dogs Gallery on it's way to a new home, I'm so excited about it, selling a piece of art is so rewarding, it really is meaningful that a person appreciates the work you have done and wants to buy it to take home and put on their wall to enjoy. I can't express really well how much it means to an artist to get that sort of positive response. You know it takes years of making art (usually) to get to the point that an artist feels that they have something of value to share with the world, and then so often the outside world says "it's lovely" but doesn't mean it...(ie. doesn't buy it and take it home). When a person buys it, it means that they REALLY like it, they aren't just "saying that"......I'm just gushing, forgive me, after all it's been a long time since I sold a piece, the economy is tough on artists.

Here it is, the long awaited new work, just finished, "Tree of Creation". Here is the story that goes with it. In the beginning time, the great Mother thought of growing something smaller than stars and galaxies, she thought of how something small might be connected, might branch out and grow, as a small thing, as a tree perhaps, she thought of how rivers might flow, and how all sorts of small things might connect, and this is her thought.

Big news

This is my big news, I am going to move to Colorado, to be near my Daughter and Grand kids, I have just decided to open a small shop, selling beautiful things, my daughter is also an artist so we won't have trouble filling the shop, I'm so excited that I can't stop smiling. I will miss all my friends here in Kerrville but life is an adventure, and it has to be lived, I will be posting some photos of new art work soon so check back. My blog will continue with renewed enthusiasm.

Green Pup

This little green puppy is so happy to be alive, he can think of nothing better than love, and kisses and of course dog food!

Stone Fish

I am finally sitting down to write, here is one photo of my new work, the title is "Stone Fish". If you think about the thing for a moment it can be rather interesting, it is subtle. I took a lovely big green painting to HCAF yesterday between rain showers, I still need to take a pic of it. and I have been making hand dyed scarves, took 7 to Guadalupe Art Dogs Gallery last Saturday and sold 5 before the day was out! I will photo some of them to show too. but not right now.

Grandmother Spider weaving the Cosmic Web

Perhaps you have heard of Grand Mother Spider. She is a very ancient God, she is the first God of many ancient peoples around the world. The Story is that she wove the tapestry of the universe, and she weaves it still, she even now is weaving the Cosmic Web, and as each new creature or thing comes into existence she leaves one thread connecting each and every creation with all of the rest of Creation. I knew of this story and one day I was looking at some new findings in science and there was a picture of the Cosmic Web, it seems that it is real and scientists have recently discovered it. However, they have not found Grand Mother Spider yet! I think she is too crafty to let herself be found easily.
